The Story Continues...

After we got married, I tried to find work in Campeche. Being a small town, it was really hard.
I ended up finding work in Merida, about 2.5 hours from Campeche. It was a beautiful, bustling city, much bigger than Campeche, and with lots of opportunities.
Commuting from Campeche to Merida every day was too hard. So, I rented a little flat in Merida. Jorge would come up to visit. For a couple years, even though we were married, we still had a long distance relationship.

We were just starting out and didn't have much back then. For entertainment, we would watch ants march away with crumbs from our dinner. When you're in love, even watching ants together is romantic.
I liked Merida too and after a couple years, I moved there from Campeche. We wanted to have a business and together, Katie and I started our first business making candles.
Later, we opened up a cardboard box factory, which we still have and where I work every day.
Our Life Over the Years
We've lived in Merida since 1995. We raised our two daughters here (they're off to college now), have our businesses here, and run Casa La Escondida in Merida. The sea and sailing are a big part of our life too. We love this city and the life we've built here.
Campeche is our family's ancestral home and we've been restoring our hacienda, La Casa 63 to so travelers and guests can experience the charms of Campeche. For us, there's magic there. It's where we fell in love.
